Occupations - Ongoing Personal Projects

As a third-generation Chinese person in Malaysia, Shun uses his experience of transitioning to life in the United States as a central focus of his studio practice.

In Occupations Series, Shun gathers second- and third-generation Malaysian and Twin Cities immigrants' stories and documents them in their places of work. He states, "Making portraiture allows me to understand how immigrants fit into society and contribute to the place that they call home. By engaging with these subjects, I discover my role and identity in the United States."
